On the verge of the LANSCE Accelerator Modernization Project, this eight-minute film looks at the past, present, and future of a Los Alamos particle accelerator that has long been vital to national security. Through interviews with the scientists and engineers who keep the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) running, the video explores how the facility’s powerful proton beam has advanced everything from nuclear stockpile stewardship to medical isotope production. As modernization begins, those same experts reflect on how upgrading LANSCE will sustain its role as one of the nation’s most versatile scientific accelerators for decades to come.
