Los Alamos National Laboratory employees rose to the challenge for the 2025 Holiday Giving Campaign, donating $2.7 million to make things a little brighter for communities in Northern New Mexico and beyond this holiday season — an increase of $100,000 over last year’s total.
“Our employees’ generosity demonstrates why the Laboratory is a force for good in the region,” Lab Director Thom Mason said. “Every donation makes a positive difference and strengthens the Lab’s relationship with nearby communities.”
Giving by the numbers
Donations and gifts equaled:
- $2.3 million to the Employee Giving Campaign (not including the Triad National Security match to eligible nonprofits) to nonprofit organizations
- $376,349 to the Los Alamos Employees Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships for New Mexico students pursuing two-year, four-year or graduate-level higher education
- $30,441 and more than 1,000 toys for the Toy Drive, with more than 120 champions and volunteers stepping up to help

Triad National Security match: 50 cents on the dollar
Laboratory operator Triad National Security is matching a portion of each employee's giving to charitable nonprofits based in the seven counties in which the majority of Laboratory employees reside (Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, Taos, San Miguel, Mora and Sandoval) and in Eddy County, where the Lab also has a presence. This year's match will be 50 cents on the dollar.
In addition to the official parts of the Holiday Giving Campaign, employees also took it upon themselves to tackle food insecurity in the region, donating $14,000 to The Food Depot, the Laboratory’s long-term nonprofit partner.
