Only UGS and GRA interns receive a portion of their travel covered for one round-trip per appointment. The Lab only covers the costs necessary to travel to and from the Lab, not any personal expenses. Mentors select interns by looking through applications in iRecruitment. Please note that internships positions here are competitive and the decision to hire students rests entirely with mentors — the Student Programs Office has no say in the hiring process. Once a mentor has narrowed their search, they will reach out to the student, or students, to conduct an interview. Given the number of applicants, not every student will hear back.

The Student Programs Office (SPO) recommends that prospective students explore the Lab’s website and reach out to groups that they are interested in working for. Many students are selected for positions by networking with Lab employees.

Yes, there is a Wellness Center available for interns, however student guests are not able to access the Wellness Center.
High School
High school students, who want an internship with the Lab during the school year, can apply to start an internship in the fall or the spring the application is open during the following:
● Fall Application: July 1 to September 30
● Spring Application: October 1 to December 31
The summer application opens on January 1 and closes April 15. High school students typically intern June through early August.
Any students who will have graduated from high school by the start of the internship, and those who have been accepted into an undergraduate program, should instead apply for an undergraduate (UGS) internship.
