LANSCE User Registration

Users are researchers who will be utilizing the LANSCE facility to perform experiments.

Users must register online at least:

  • 4 weeks prior to experiment for U.S. citizens
  • 2 months prior to experiment for foreign nationals.

How to register

  • Go to the LANSCE Experiment Management System.
  • Log in using your email address.
    • Click "Forgot your password?" to reset if needed.
  • Click on "Collaborations" on the navigation bar to list proposals you are a collaborator on.
  • Select the Proposal you would like to register for and follow the prompts.
  • When finished with collaboration information, please check and update your account information.
    • Click My Account, then Account Details.
    • Ensure that everything is correct.
    • Follow the instructions in the PII section if you plan to come on site.

Before you arrive

  • If your proposal is approved, you will receive an email from the LANSCE User Office asking you to register. Only users listed on the proposal will be able to register. If the user expects additional visitors, the PI needs to add them to the proposal so they can register too.
  • If you have an approved proposal, complete your user agreement. Users cannot use any LANSCE facility until the agreement is in place.
  • Familiarize yourself with visiting LANSCE.
  • Minor non-LANL users may not come onsite for an experiment.
  • Coordinate the remote LANL badging process with the LANSCE User Office.

Coordinate your experiment with the User Office

  • You will be notified of your experiment schedule at least 3-6 weeks prior to your start date.
  • Contact your instrument scientist as soon as you receive your experiment start date.
  • Discuss all equipment and sample shipments with the instrument scientist and User Office before shipping. Notify both when you receive a delivery notice.
  • If you need a special sample holder or other equipment, talk to your instrument scientist. Do this before your experiment starts.
  • Complete your online training as directed by the User Office.
  • The User Office will arrange your LANL Badge Office appointment to receive a badge for site access.
