Event Description

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for this special event! Every second Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Museum features actual scientists and researchers talking to visitors about their favorite Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) topics.

Jeff Favorite: Getting your arms around area

Simple trips and tricks for sizing up two-dimensional shapes

We use the concept of area every day whether we’re figuring out how much paint to buy or the displacement of the engine in our new car. Come by and learn how computers figure out the area of irregular figures and use an ingenious device invented in the 19th century to measure areas mechanically.

Jane Clements: Aquatic biology

Up close and microbial

Using powerful microscopes, you'll have an opportunity to witness tiny, live organisms that live in regional fresh water supplies. You’ll also have an opportunity to talk to Jane about her interest in microbiology and see cool stuff normally invisible to the human eye.
