Volunteer data scientists from the Lab at work during the 2025 Data Sprint. The deadline for applications for the 2026 sprint is Feb. 20.

Jan. 1, 2026 - New Year’s Day

Jan. 9: Triad National Security nonprofit grant application deadline
Laboratory operator Triad National Security provides grants and sponsorships to local nonprofits in the areas of economic diversity, K-12 STEM education, workforce development, and community nonprofit support. Applications for the next round of awards close Jan. 9, 2026.

Jan. 11: Deadline for applications for LANL Foundation’s four-year undergraduate scholarships
Scholarships, largely supported by donations from Laboratory employees and the Laboratory operator Triad, are open to students from Northern New Mexico planning to pursue (or currently pursuing) a four-year undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university. Preference is not given to students with Laboratory affiliation, and more application details are here.

Jan. 12: 2026 Legislative Preview
The Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce hosts their regular meeting with the Santa Fe legislative delegation discussing priorities and predictions for the upcoming session.

Feb. 20: Application deadline for 2026 Northern New Mexico Community Data Sprint 
Community organizations are invited to participate in the Community Data Sprint, which gives nonprofits and other bodies the chance to solve their data-related problems by collaborating with a small team of Laboratory data scientists. There is no charge for organizations to participate, and details on eligibility and upcoming information sessions are here. The application deadline is Feb. 20, 2026.
