As a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) and Government Owned, Contractor Operated (GOCO) Department of Energy National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory may be eligible to participate in SBIR and STTR proposals as a subcontractor or research institution providing unique technical assistance unavailable in the private sector.
Key Program Highlights:
Technical Expertise: If the Laboratory has unique capabilities, expertise, or facilities, small businesses can request involvement in proposal submissions through Los Alamos National Laboratory's contracting manager and operator, Triad National Security, LLC (Triad). Engaging the Lab as a subcontractor or research institution enables small businesses to leverage the expertise of Laboratory staff and utilize its facilities to address technical challenges in their proposed work
Perspective Applicants:
Los Alamos National Laboratory may participate in a proposal only if the requested capabilities are unique to the Laboratory and do not compete with the private sector. Small businesses must request the Lab's involvement at least 10 business days prior to the proposal deadline; otherwise, there may not be sufficient time to review the request and prepare necessary documentation. Upon proposal award, the small business must enter into an agreement for the Laboratory’s designated portion of the work.
