Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists

Building the next STEM generation

How the Lab is supporting Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists

The Department of Energy Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) at Los Alamos National Laboratory supports Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR), Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI), Community College Internships (CCI) and Visiting Faculty Program (VFP) faculty and students. Each year, approximately 35 students participate in these opportunities at the Lab. The WDTS programs support students and faculty with external funds for internship and research opportunities at the Lab.

SCGSR students receive WDTS financial support to conduct thesis research. WDTS students can participate in various professional development courses that prepare them for future success in their education, projects and careers. The Student Programs Office also ensures each WDTS student can partake in social engagement activities with their cohort and fellow interns. Learn more about SCGSR, SULI, CCI and VFP on the Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists page.
