LANSCE User Group

  • LUG Executive Committee

The LUG shares information on neutron science and advises LANSCE on beam time allocation, facility upgrades, experimental programs, and user meetings.

LUG Membership

The LUG is comprised of current LANSCE users. The system automatically enrolls users listed on beam-time proposals for two years. Additional Users who would like to become LUG members should contact the LANSCE User Office: lansce-user-office@lanl.gov.

LANSCE User Group Charter

LUG Meeting

The annual LUG meeting highlights LANSCE research. It also includes a forum to advise LANSCE management and scientists. The forum covers future directions, opportunities, and user needs. Meeting attendees participate in workshops.

Past LUG Meetings

LUG Executive Committee

LUG provides direct input to LANSCE management, primarily through LUG's Executive Committee.

Users may contact Executive Committee members to bring issues to LANSCE management’s attention.

The LUG Executive Committee typically includes twelve members; a student or postdoctoral researcher serves as one member. The new members will serve three-year terms and the graduate student or postdoctoral researcher will serve a one-year term.

Membership terms are staggered to maintain continuity. The members are elected by a LUG membership vote. Candidates are chosen to reflect LANSCE’s main scientific activities.

The LUG Executive Committee and LANSCE management have monthly conference calls. These calls let management keep the Executive Committee updated on LANSCE activities. They also let the Executive Committee share user issues with management. The calls also help participants discuss strategies for the future of LANSCE facilities.
