The National Postdoctoral Association recently named Los Alamos National Laboratory as one of 12 institutions demonstrating exemplary commitment to advancing the postdoctoral experience as part of its first-annual Institutional Policy Awards.
A postdoctoral scholar, or “postdoc,” is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research to acquire the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of their choosing.
“At Los Alamos National Laboratory, excellent people working together with excellent tools add up to world-changing science,” said Patrick Fitch, deputy director for Science, Technology and Engineering. “We are grateful to be recognized by the NPA along with our peers.”
Other award winners include the Boston Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Research, Gladstone Institutes, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Temple University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Texas Medical Branch, Van Andel Institute and Virginia Commonwealth University.
The National Postdoctoral Association was established in 2003 to facilitate enhanced professional growth, raise awareness, and collaborate with stakeholders in the postdoctoral community.
