Join Los Alamos National Laboratory experts and New Mexico entrepreneurs at Technology Showcase Days, part of ScienceFest 2024
July 10, 2024
All types of innovators and entrepreneurial-minded people are invited to Los Alamos National Laboratory Technology Showcase Days, from 2:30-6 p.m. Sunday, July 14, and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 15, at Fuller Lodge in downtown Los Alamos as part of Los Alamos ScienceFest. Both sessions include deep-tech presentations and roundtable conversations with Lab experts, area entrepreneurs, investors and government leaders.
Sunday’s session, “Pioneering Progress,” highlights successes between New Mexico deep-tech startups and the Laboratory in such areas as artificial intelligence, advanced materials, clean energy, health monitoring and space systems. Presentations are followed by a casual networking session with refreshments from Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op courtesy of MainStreet Los Alamos and the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation.
Monday’s session, “New Mexico Clean Energy Transition Roundtable,” is a panel discussion moderated by investor Ward Hendon along with former Lab postdoctoral researchers Luis Chavez, founder of Hydrosonics, developers of hydrogen production technology; and Hunter McDaniel, CEO of UbiQD, makers of quantum dots for solar-energy applications. David Perez, director of NM's Energy Alliance; Joseph Merlino, managing partner with Libertad Power; and Simon Woodruff, whose company is incubating fusion startups, will share additional insights on New Mexico's investments and commitments to renewable energy.
Historic Fuller Lodge served as a community center for workers stationed in the Secret City during the Manhattan Project in 1942-46. Recently, it was also a filming location for the 2023 movie “Oppenheimer.” More than 80 years later, Los Alamos National Laboratory has grown to specialize in national security science, which stretches beyond military applications to include the security of the country’s energy supply, food supply, environment, public health and economy. Discussions at Technology Showcase Days will cover innovations both at the Laboratory and in the private sector with a focus on growing the economy in New Mexico through these national security sectors.
The event is part of Los Alamos ScienceFest, July 12-16, and co-organized by Los Alamos MainStreet, the Feynman Center for Innovation and the New Mexico Lab Embedded Entrepreneur Program (New Mexico LEEP).
The event is free, but registration is required. See full agenda and RSVP.
