Opportunities for New Mexico High School Seniors to Explore Careers in STEM, Business, and More

Who should apply? 

  • High School juniors are interns at LANL who work the summer before their senior year. You will want to apply during the spring semester of your junior year. 
  • High School seniors can work during their senior year. 
  • If you are interested in an internship the summer after you graduate, you will want to apply for an Undergraduate (UGS) internship. 

How long is a high school internship?

  • Interns are part-time during the school year, typically 10-20 hours a week
  • Interns can be full-time during the summer, up to 40 hours a week
  • Summer internships are typically 10 weeks

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Senior status at the time of internships
  • 16 years of age
  • 2.75 GPA
  • Attend a NM High School
  • Pass a new employment drug test

Required Materials: 

  • Current Transcript
  • Resume
  • Personal Statement
  • Letter of Recommendation (optional)

Complete the HS Internship Application

  • (make sure you have all required materials before you submit the application!)
