Actinide Material Processing and Power

Experience one-of-a-kind work with actinide materials

We promote nuclear deterrence and space exploration through radioactive science

The Actinide Material Processing and Power (AMPP) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory supports actinide science and manufacturing for NASA exploration, defense programs, nuclear non-proliferation, americium production, and materials recycling to enable the future of our operations to support the national security needs of the United States.

AMPP is seeking people with these critical skillsets, and more:

AMPP-3

Advanced Recovery and Integrated Extraction System (ARIES)

The Advanced Recovery and Integrated Extraction System (ARIES) group supports the nation’s objectives of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament converting the nation's legacy plutonium into oxide and dispositioning it to make the world safer.

AMPP-4

Material Recovery & Recycle

The Material Recovery & Recycle group safely and efficiently processes plutonium, uranium, americium and other materials while expanding the scientific and engineering basis of nuclear weapons-based manufacturing.

AMPP-5

Power Supply Production

The Power Supply Production group works with space and defense programs to process plutonium to make heat sources for different sorts of instrumentations or generators that need long lasting and reliable power.

AMPP-6

Power Supply Assembly & Product Characterization

The Power Supply Assembly & Product Characterization group supports space exploration and national defense programs: power supply assembly and testing; metallography, surveillance, and characterization; material management and plutonium harvesting.
