Experimental Device Engineering and Assembly (E-5) is LANL’s premier engineering organization, which E-5 is a group of highly skilled and motivated engineers, technicians, and specialists that safely and securely deliver high-quality assemblies that meet our customers’ requirements. The data collected from our experimental devices enhances the design agency’s understanding of weapon physics and weapons system engineering in direct support of our nation’s stockpile stewardship program.

  • Transporting, storing, and assembling high explosives (HEs)
  • Expertly managing and transporting weapon-related parts
  • Engineering tooling, fixture design, and analysis for test device assembly work
  • Destructing and dispositioning classified parts 
  • Managing the classified part inventory management system (CPIMS) database configuration 
  • Coordinating material resource schedule (MRS) parts
