Community Technical Assistance Program

A resource for eligible entities in northern New Mexico to access unique expertise at LANL and the capabilities of LANL subject matter experts on a variety of technical challenges.

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has launched a new resource for eligible entities in northern New Mexico to access unique expertise at LANL and the capabilities of LANL subject matter experts on a variety of technical challenges.

The Community Technical Assistance (CTA) program at LANL makes available the assistance of lab scientists and engineers that can work on short-term, limited assistance to entities facing technical hurdles that overlap with LANL capabilities provided that the assistance does not duplicate services or compete with the private sector. This assistance is provided at no cost to the organization seeking assistance and the scope of work provided varies based on individual project needs.

Eligible entities include nonprofit, tribal, and non-Federal government entities that are located in one of the following northern NM counties: Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe, or Taos.

Previous CTA projects:

  • Using x-rays to analyze New Mexico state historic artifacts
  • Assisting in locating local subsurface spring

Inquiries for technical assistance are taken on a regular basis and are reviewed for eligibility and consideration based off of availability of resources.
