Introducing the Director’s Colloquium
The Director’s Colloquium features eminent speakers presenting unique lectures on compelling topics with outstanding scientific and technical merit and on subjects related to contemporary policy issues.
This series has a long and distinguished history that can be traced back to J. Robert Oppenheimer’s Primer Lecture Series of 1943 and the subsequent Super Conference of 1946.

Director’s Colloquium Objectives
Direction
Setting the Laboratory’s contributions, present and future, in a larger scientific and societal context
Collaboration
Seeding multi-disciplinary collaborations within and beyond the Laboratory
Inspiration
Inspiring our staff and challenging our patterns of thinking
These distinct objectives differentiate the Director’s Colloquium from other laboratory forums. Speakers have distinguished stature within the larger scientific and engineering community and have the ability to reach a multi-disciplinary audience “across the lab.”
