A 3-day science festival running July 16-18, 2015

Bradbury Events @ Los Alamos ScienceFest

Join us during Los Alamos ScienceFest!—a 3-day festival of interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities and dynamic speakers meant to engage kids, families, and individuals interested in life-long learning of science, technology, engineering and math. During the week, community businesses and organizations will be presenting events throughout the county culminating in Festival Day at Ashley Pond on Saturday, July 18. The Bradbury Science Museum is participating by hosting a number of events, most of them featuring Lab scientists, engineers and technical staff.

Thursday, July 16

5:30 PM – 7 PM      SCIENCE ON TAP: Featuring Nathaniel Morgan on “From Trinity to Artificial Joints: How Computational Mathematics Has Changed Our World” at UnQuarked Wine Room.

 

Friday, July 17

11 AM – 2 PM         SPECIAL WORKSHOP: Building Location Aware Apps on the iPhone (REGISTRATION REQUIRED) Sign up for a FREE workshop (includes pizza!) where you will learn how to program and run your own iPhone app that uses GPS technology.

Noon – 1 PM          CLIMATE PRISMS OPEN HOUSE: Tour this new interactive exhibit at the museum and meet its creators at the while enjoying refreshments and conversation.

 

Saturday, July 18

11 AM – 3 PM         DRONE ZONE: Join us at Ashley Pond by bringing your own drone or flying one of ours. There will be two obstacle courses – one for beginners and one for masters – where you can compete for awesome prizes!

Noon – 4 PM          SCIENCE & SUDS: Visit with a scientist at the beer garden at Ashley Pond.
