The Materials Science and Technology Division provides scientific and technical leadership in materials science and technology for Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Emphasizing the synergy among materials synthesis, processing, properties, and performance, we apply fundamental materials science and technology expertise to a range of national security needs in nuclear energy, conventional defense, and threat reduction applications.

We maintain state-of-the-art capabilities in modeling, processing, coatings, corrosion capability, precision machining and assembly, and testing to create new knowledge, lay the foundation for new technologies, and deliver specialized hardware.
