Dr. Michael T. Pettes is an expert in nanomaterials and nanoscale transport experimentation. His laboratory integrates his in-situ TEM micro-test platforms with a deep ultraviolet Raman/photoluminescence micro-spectroscopy system including a suite of precision electronics for characterization of optical, electron, phonon, and microstructure responses to external stimuli. These capabilities are focused on developing knowledge of strain- and defect-coupled transport phenomena with applications in quantum information science, sensors, and energy conversion.
