John Charonko

John received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2009, and his B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics in 2002.

John received the 2010 Outstanding Paper in the Fluid Mechanics category for the journal Measurement Science and Technology for his research on "Assessment of pressure field calculations from particle image velocimetry measurements."

John has extensive experience in understanding and estimating errors in Particle Image Velocimetry, and in applying PIV to biomedical flows using ultrasound diagnostics. His current research is in variable density mixing.
