RELIC

RELIC stands for Rare Earth Level and Intensity Calculations. The RELIC software package allows the user to calculate intermediate-coupling wavefunctions, energy levels, transition strengths (Judd-Ofelt theory), and radiative decay properties of tri-positive lanthanide ions in solids. RELIC also implements functions that allow for fitting of atomic parameters to describe a set of experimental energy levels, calculation of intermediate coupling reduced matrix elements, and fitting of Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters to describe a set of experimental oscillator strengths. The RELIC 1.0 User Guide (pdf) is available on this webpage and gives you a flavor of the software’s capabilities.

RELIC is the computational implementation of the quantum mechanical formalism that was reviewed and summarized in M.P. Hehlen, M.G. Brik, K.W. Krämer, "50th anniversary of the Judd-Ofelt theory: An experimentalist's view of the formalism and its application", J. Lumin., 136 (2013) pp. 221-239 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jlumin.2012.10.035). Please cite this publication whenever you publish work that has used RELIC or contains any results obtained from RELIC.
