Cubit

Cubit is a powerful geometric modeling and mesh generation software developed by Sandia National Lab. Cubit can be obtained for a nominal licensing fee for non-commercial use at http://cubit.sandia.gov.  

Using Cubit one can define element and face types in bulk, using Blocks to define element types and Sidesets to define face types.  All cell faces that are not defined are automatically named as fluid faces (40) (see   Face Types ) by the convertor.  Similar options are available with other commercial grid generators, though the names used may be different.
