Radioisotope Production
Isotopes for research and medicine
Isotopes used for medical and industrial applications
We prepare, separate and distribute unique isotopes used for medical, industrial and research applications (i.e., nuclear chemistry, target development, process chemistry, separations chemistry, molecular chemistry of radioisotopes).
- Top Left: Isotope Production Facility. Targets include RbCl (for Sr-82 production), Ga metal (for Ge-68 production), Al (for Na-22)
- Top Right: Remote manipulators are used to safely handle radioactive isotopes, which are purified for research and medicine.
Ac-225 production for cancer therapy.
Shown is a thorium foil test target for proof-of-concept experiments.
Si-32 returns.
IIAC has recently begun producing Silicon-32 for the first time since 1998. It is a soft beta emitter used to determine the age of glaciers, to investigate oceanic and atmospheric circulation, and to probe ground water infiltration rates.
