It's robot-wrangling time!

It’s almost time to head over to the Bradbury Science Museum for Robotics Night @theBradbury!

For six years, robotics enthusiasts have congregated at the Bradbury for an annual tech-filled night of automaton awesomeness. However, in 2012 a full-fledged robotics night was just a twinkle in the Museum’s eye. Instead, the Museum was busy hosting the local, summer-long series called Late Night @theBradbury, Friday night demonstrations with topics ranging from robotics and nanoscale science to geology. The robotics events were such a hit with kids and adults alike that it seemed only sensible to create an annual event just for our robophiles. The following year we held the first official Robotics Night @theBradbury, and so a tradition was born.

This year, we anticipate over 15 live demonstrations brought to you by local Lego teams made up of students of all ages, the Lab’s HazMat team, the Los Alamos Police Department Bomb Squad, UNM-Los Alamos, and a few surprise guests. In fact, some of the teams will even let guests “drive” the robots themselves! We’ll also have lots of hands-on activities, including the Museum’s own robotic arm and presentations on the Mars Rover.

Brought to us by the Bradbury Science Museum Association, Robotics Night @theBradbury provides local kids with an opportunity to show off their robotics skills, learn from those around them, and ponder what a future in robotics might look like. The evening also gives the Museum a chance to applaud and inspire those young guests–those scientists of tomorrow. Always an entertaining event, this year’s gathering is sure to entertain, so be sure to not miss this year’s Robotics Night @theBradbury!
