Science ambassador supports area students

In mid-April, Jane Clements, a Museum guide and Scientist Ambassador, was joined by representatives of several other organizations to participate in the 4th annual Los Alamos Water Festival program held at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos.
Jane, whose focus is aquatic biology, helped several classes of Los Alamos fourth-grade students consider how water supports many different types of life. The children’s research into what grows in various ecosystems was assisted by digital microscopes and unaided observations.
Los Alamos County’s Department of Public Utilities sponsored the event and other folks from the Lab were there to assist as well as representatives from Bandelier National Monument’s Fire Management Program, New Mexico State University, the New Mexico Environment Department, and the Pajarito Environmental Education Center.
