Event Description

2019's summer installment of "Night with a Nerd" takes place September 12, 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m. at projectY.

Research at Los Alamos National Laboratory is focused on national security priorities, with nuclear deterrence and stockpile stewardship at the forefront of the Lab’s mission. Please join Phil Goldstone, a former Legislative Fellow and Senior National Security Science Advisor, on Thursday September 12 for a presentation on nuclear deterrence and the complex issues surrounding it.

Bio:  Philip Goldstone received his B.S. and M.S. from what is now the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and his Ph.D. in Physics from Stony Brook University. He is now retired from a 37-year career at Los Alamos National Laboratory that included research, both management and advisory roles within the stockpile stewardship program, policy development, and planning support for scientific facilities. In 2003-05 he was a Legislative Fellow and Senior National Security Science Advisor to then-Congresswoman Heather Wilson, and was the lead staff for a House policy committee study on nuclear proliferation.

This event is free for Bradbury Science Museum Association members. For nonmembers, the cost is $10, but you can join the BSMA at the event if you'd like. The talk will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. If you plan on attending, please register as space is limited.
