RDC awards grants to more than 50 regional small businesses

The Regional Development Corporation has awarded 58 Northern New Mexico businesses up to $3,000 each from the 2024 Micro-Grant Fund. 

The fund, which is supported by Laboratory operator Triad, provides an infusion of capital to help businesses diversify, sustain or grow revenue, leverage other investments, and put systems in place that lead to growth and create job opportunities. 

In addition, the RDC provides technical support and information on other funding opportunities to all 161 applicants, whether or not they were awarded funding.

Keen to reach potential applicants by removing language barriers, this year the RDC offered an information session, an application, and marketing materials in Spanish in addition to the versions in English.

A total of $149,568.71 was awarded to a diverse range of businesses that are based in all of the seven Northern New Mexico counties that the RDC serves. The recipients range from restaurants to photographers, from jewelry designers to CPR and first aid trainers, and from a hair boutique to a tool manufacturing company.

“Access to capital can be extremely difficult for small businesses, especially in rural and underserved areas of Northern New Mexico,” said Carla Rachkowski, RDC director of operations. “These grants represent a unique and invaluable source of funding that can impact a business in a significant way.”
