Sponsorship opportunity for economic development nonprofits
Nonprofit organizations with an idea to help build the New Mexico technology ecosystem are invited to submit a proposal for funding support.

The Regional Engagement Challenge encourages the exploration and implementation of new methods to increase technology commercialization, stimulate new business startups, attract entrepreneurs, create job opportunities, and attract businesses and capital to the region.
Organizations will be able to request sponsorship through a simple application outlining funding requested, how the funds will be used, the goals of this use, and how the requestor will measure and assess outcomes and successes. Interested organizations must submit proposals by April 19, 2021.
LANL Foundation publishes report on strengthening college and career readiness in Northern New Mexico
With the support of a grant from Laboratory operator Triad LLC, the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation has released a year-long research study on college and career supports and career pathways for students in Northern New Mexico. The report, titled “The Road to Readiness: Equitable Access to Career Pathways and College Transition Supports in Northern New Mexico,” provides multiple actionable recommendations and reflects the work of a core LANL Foundation team in collaboration with 25 administrators from diverse high schools throughout Northern New Mexico.
Recommendations to expand and strengthen college and career services and programming include: providing each high school with a core team of key staff; enhancing support for small, rural, and tribal schools; securing recurring, equitable, and sufficient funding; increasing broadband access and maximizing business and education partnerships.

Los Alamos Middle School wins Regional Science Bowl
Hosted jointly by Sandia and Los Alamos national laboratories, this year’s New Mexico Regional Science Bowl for middle schools was won by Los Alamos Middle School, after an online competition held on March 13. Eleven teams from across the state took part, and the Los Alamos MS team will now go on to represent New Mexico in the national championships that take place in April and May.
