April 14 - Demon-Deities of Northern Japan
Join the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe for a virtual talk with Michael Dylan Foster, Professor of Japanese at the University of California, Davis that gives more insight into the Museum’s current exhibit Yokai:Ghosts and Demons of Japan. Register in advance.
April 17 - Backyard Composting in Los Alamos County
Do you want to start backyard composting, but don't know where to start? If you’re a Los Alamos County resident you can register for a free kit that includes a self-contained compost tumbler that, plus a kitchen countertop container to hold your food scraps and some guidance about the composting process.
April 19 - Science on Tap: Taraka Dale
Just in time for Earth Day, join Laboratory researcher Taraka Dale for this online presentation from the Bradbury Science Museum on her team’s work on a multi-national laboratory program to tackle the problem of plastic pollution, especially around single-use bottles.
April 23 - Deadline for Career Pathways Scholarships
Apply by April 23 for the LANL Career Pathways Scholarships, open to Northern New Mexico students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a two-year degree program or certificate program. Scholarships are $750 awards per semester up to $3,000 total.
May 1 - Deadline for RDC microgrants for small businesses
The Regional Development Corporation’s Micro-Grant Fund offers micro grants of $500 - $2000 to any type of small business that has an immediate need for a small amount of funding to sustain the company and/or to move it to the next level, and/or add jobs. The grants are funded by Laboratory operator Triad, LLC, and companies selected do not give up any equity by accepting funding, and are not required to provide collateral or a personal guarantee.
