What we did on our summer vacation

The museum partnered with Española Public Schools to bring science and engineering fun to students enrolled in the 21st Century Learners summer program, as well as the Pueblo de San Ildefonso’s Summer Program. Over the course of five weeks, our educators shared fun STEM activities with nearly 600 students.
Rounding out the SSOW team were our educators Mel Strong and Chelsea Redman, local teacher Sarah Herman and University of New Mexico undergraduate intern Tina Nisoli. They shared hands-on activities with themes on energy conversion as well as sound, evolution and natural selection.
Support for the program came from the nonprofit Bradbury Science Museum Association and Enterprise Bank & Trust. The BSMA also runs the Gadgets gift shop at the Bradbury Science Museum. Proceeds from Gadgets purchases support STEM education in Northern New Mexico.
One SSOW participating teacher commented, “I've been an educator for 23 years and (Summer) Science on Wheels has always been the top of my favorites list.” Our education team feels the same way and already looks forward to next year!
