Join us at projectY cowork on May 15 for this month’s Periodic Table program, featuring senior scientist Hari Viswanathan. He’ll discuss the challenges, science and innovations involved in locating an estimated 300,000 to 1 million undocumented and abandoned energy wells that leak environmental contaminants.

The Periodic Table is the Bradbury’s casual, ask-me-anything program. Gather with other science enthusiasts and talk with a special guest Labbie about their unique work.

About the speaker

Hari Viswanathan, a senior scientist in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory, is principal investigator on multiple energy security projects that have led to a publication record of over 125 peer-reviewed journal publications on subsurface energy applications with more than 8,500 citations. He is a fellow of the Geological Society of America and LANL Fellows Prize winner for Outstanding Research. Viswanathan is the lead scientist of Department of Energy’s $50 million CATALOG multilab program, which aims to locate legacy undocumented orphan wells that leak greenhouse gases, such as methane and other contaminants.
