Bradbury Science Museum educators and our Challenge Tomorrow team recently visited the historic State Capitol Roundhouse in Santa Fe, NM, for STEAM Day at the New Mexico Legislature. Sponsored by the LANL Foundation, this education-focused event featured organizations from around New Mexico to share activities in science, technology, engineering, art and math.

The chilly weather did not deter participants from bundling up and visiting Challenge Tomorrow’s Discovery trailer. Local schoolkids and elected officials alike had the chance to talk with the Challenge Tomorrow Ambassadors. Together, they explored different areas of scientific innovation and research, like climate, health and space.

Inside the Roundhouse — where it was less frosty — young visitors enjoyed hands-on tech activities with the Bradbury’s educators. A few grown-ups took also breaks from legislating to get in on the fun. They discovered how to generate their own electricity and build their own light-up keepsake.

It was great to participate in such a dynamic event with many other educational organizations from our communities. We look forward to the next STEAM Day — we hope to see you there!
