Gearing up for science fun during Engineers Week

The last week of February has the distinction of National Engineers Week, which is devoted to the celebration and exploration of engineering and technology. At the Bradbury Science Museum, this themed week provides even more opportunity to introduce future engineers to the fun and wonders of engineering.  

One of the ways the museum celebrates Engineers Week is by introducing brand-new engineering toys to the Tech Lab. This year, those toys include gear sets and KEVA Planks — wooden cuboid stacking blocks that are made for inventing and constructing. “It’s critical to foster the innate desire to be creative, problem solve, and invent new things that lives within all of us — but especially within young minds,” says Chelsea Redman, one of the museum’s community outreach educators.

The toys are available in the Tech Lab all year round, giving kids and adults alike the chance to experiment with engineering— no matter what week it is. “We see some really awesome creations left behind by our visitors,” Redman says.
