Bradbury’s ChemCam exhibit makes a stop at the Explorers Club

Items from the Bradbury Science Museum’s ChemCam display are currently on view at the Explorers Club in New York City.

The Curiosity Rover ChemCam Engineering Team was awarded the Citation of Merit by the Explorers Club, a society that promotes exploration and scientific field study. The team was nominated for their hard work to recover the use of the ChemCam laser on Mars after the high-voltage power supply started behaving off-nominally in 2021.

The Bradbury loaned a scale model of ChemCam’s mast, a reproduction plutonium pellet and an actual spare calibration target for display at the Explorers Club’s annual dinner and award ceremony on April 23. Team lead Nina Lanza welcomed the Los Alamos objects to New York, where the space engineers gathered for the celebration.

The ChemCam exhibit will be back home and on view at the Bradbury the end of May. Read more about the engineering team's exciting honor.
