May 10: UNM-Los Alamos Graduation

Laboratory director Thom Mason will be speaking at the commencement ceremony, which takes place at the Duane Smith Auditorium at 6 p.m.

May 11: World Migratory Bird Day 

The New Mexico Wildlife Center in Española hosts the local event in this worldwide celebration of wild birds, featuring live raptor demonstrations, and the opportunity to see wild birds up close and learn what we can do to improve native species’ habitats. 

May 11: Scientists in the Spotlight

Stop by the Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos to chat with Laboratory researchers. Scott Crooker will demonstrate magnetic levitation, while Barry Warthen will be exploding eggs to show how we can use flash photography and flash radiography to learn about dynamic experiments.

May 11: Luna Community College Graduation

Commencement takes place at 10 a.m. in the Multi-Education Center Auditorium.

May 11: New Mexico Highlands University Graduation

The ceremony takes place at 2 p.m. in the John A. Wilson Complex.

May 14, 21, 28: Ted Talk Tuesday

Every Tuesday at noon, bring your lunch to Project Y in Los Alamos to watch a TED talk, and discuss. See each week's topic here

May 17-19: Fiber Crawl

Celebrate New Mexico’s rich fiber arts heritage and the people who make wonderful textile creations as locations across the state open for the Fiber Crawl. Visitors can explore fiber studios and farms, and attend weaving and knitting demonstrations, and events at galleries, museums and fiber arts stores.

May 18: Northern New Mexico College Graduation

The commencement ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. in the Eagle Gymnasium.

May 18: Santa Fe Community College Graduation

Takes place at 10 a.m. in the Fitness Center.

May 18: Institute of American Indian Arts Graduation

Takes place at 11 a.m. with sculptor Roxanne Swentzell delivering the commencement address.

May 18-19: Kite Festival

If you like music, food, kite-building workshops and of course, kite flying, then join the crowd at the 2019 Kite Festival at Overlook Park in White Rock.

May 20: Science on Tap: Arctic Permafrost

Laboratory researcher Cathy Wilson discusses the impacts of thawing Arctic permafrost in this all-ages discussion at Project Y in Los Alamos.

May 25: Santa Fe Half Marathon

Test yourself with a 5K, 10K or half marathon in the City Different.

May 27: Memorial Day
