The Laboratory archives contain about 1,000,000 photographic negatives.

“I feel lucky to have this unique job, and one of the reasons why is because the Lab is rich with 75 years of fascinating history,” says Lab historian Alan Carr. “Our world-changing institution has captured the imagination of people around the world since its existence became publicly known in August of 1945. For 15 years I’ve been reading about the achievements of the past and present, and yet there is always something new and exciting to learn.”
