LOS ALAMOS, N.M., April 29, 2021-Dina Siegel of Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Occupational Health and Safety Division will lead one of the nation’s premier organizations for protecting workers after being elected vice president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).

“I am honored to be elected to the role of vice president for AIHA, which will progress to president-elect and then president in the next three years,” Siegel said. “My goal is to help AIHA remain a leader in occupational and environmental health and safety by working with AIHA members and allied organizations. I will do everything possible to help lead early and mid-career professionals to a very bright future. I am grateful for the support of my occupational safety and health managers in pursuing this role and plan to continue to share the great work of AIHA with my Los Alamos and Department of Energy peers.”

Siegel joined the organization in 1983 and has served on the board since 2015, previously as director-at-large and secretary.

AIHA noted that Siegel’s service has included numerous AIHA volunteer groups and committees, including those involving biosafety and environmental microbiology, exposure assessment strategies, nanomaterials, and women in industrial hygiene.

Headquartered in Fairfax, Va., AIHA is the association for scientists and professionals committed to preserving and ensuring occupational health and safety in the workplace and community.
