"The drive has made sure so many children will start the school year ready to learn."

Your 2018 donations helped 1000 students get the supplies they need!

Thanks to the generosity of Laboratory employees and other members of the community, more than 1,000 backpacks with school supplies were collected during the Lab's 2018 Back to School drive. The backpacks will go to students in need across the region.

"The drive has made sure so many children will start the school year ready to learn," said Selena Valencia of the Lab’s Community Partnerships Office (CPA-CPO), who coordinated the effort. "Whether it was individual donations, or collective efforts from groups who bought and filled backpacks together, we're very grateful for everyone's kindness and generosity."

Support for the drive also came from Del Norte Credit Union and Smith's. Representatives from 12 school districts across the region (including Bureau of Indian Education schools) received the backpacks and supplies just before school started and distributed them to the students most in need.
