Math Teacher Leader Network
Strengthening high quality mathematics teaching and learning in elementary and middle schools in Northern New Mexico.
The Math Teacher Leader Network (MTLN) is an association of math teacher leaders and their principals and the Laboratory’s Math and Science Academy designed to facilitate and strengthen high quality mathematics teaching and learning in elementary and middle schools in northern New Mexico.
Goals:
- Deepen math teacher leaders’ mathematical content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and leadership skills
- Support teacher leaders and principals in building teacher capacity for math teaching and learning through job-embedded professional learning and systems in their schools
- Foster a sustained network of engaged partners
Approaches to implementation:
- Job-embedded professional learning, and teaching and learning systems development
- Cross-school/district learning through structured collaboration
- Formal professional learning
- Network functions
