Mental health services for retirees
BlueCross BlueShield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) helps Lab employees identify and benefit from the mental health and substance abuse services they may need through a network of providers, programs and facilities.
Use the BCBSNM Provider Finder to select an independently contracted and licensed behavioral health professional or physician nearest to you.
Preauthorization for services is required for mental health and chemical dependency services.
Eligibility
Employees and their dependents enrolled in the BCBSNM EPO, PPO and CDHP plans are eligible for behavioral health benefits.
Cost
Your costs are based on the BCBSNM medical plan you have chosen.
Requesting services
You must request preauthorization from BCBSNM for all behavioral health services before an inpatient/partial hospitalization admission. Preauthorization gives BCBSNM the chance to help you get the most from your health plan benefits.
Call the number on the back of your member ID card to request preauthorization.
On-going services through transition of plans
If you are currently seeing a therapist, you have two options to remain with that provider.
Therapist is BCBSNM provider
You can continue to see the same provider as you currently are. Contact the Behavioral Health Unit by calling the number on the back of your card to ensure your continued care will not be interrupted.
Therapist is not BCBSNM provider
You may continue to see your provider as part of your out-of-network benefits if you have the PPO or CDHP plan options.
If you are enrolled in the EPO plan, BCBSNM handles your case individually based on your clinical needs or finds a contracted provider for your care. Contact the Behavioral Health Unit by calling the number on the back of your card.
