Vacation
Full-time or part-time employees are eligible to accrue and use vacation leave. Casual employees are not eligible to accrue and use vacation leave.
Full-time employees accrue vacation as long as they are in pay status for at least one hour during a calendar week (Monday–Sunday).
Accrual rates are based on years of service, and summarized in the following chart (based on a full-time schedule).
Years of Service | Monthly Accrual (hours) | Annual Accrual (weeks) |
---|---|---|
0 - 10 | 10 | 3 weeks |
10 - 15 | 12 | 3.6 weeks |
15 - 20 | 14 | 4.2 weeks |
20+ | 16 | 4.8 weeks |
Sick leave
Employees accrue sick leave starting on their first day of work at the rate of 8 hours per month (2.4 weeks per year).
Sick leave may be used for specific circumstances, including employee illness, medical appointments, and illness or death in the employee's immediate family.
