Many health issues involve some combination of physical, mental and social causes. Treating behavioral health and medical conditions at the same time offers the best way to take care of your overall health care needs. As part of Blue Care Connection® (BCC), the Behavioral Health program can help you better manage your health and stay healthy – mentally and physically. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) members have access to a full range of behavioral health care services, including:
Any employee or retiree enrolled in the BlueCross Blue Shield of New Mexico EPO, PPO and CDHP Plans are eligible for Behavioral Health benefits. Members enrolled in the National Medicare Supplement Plan are not required to use the BCBSNM Network or Behavioral Health Providers, but will be required to utilize a Medicare Provider for services in order to obtain the maximum benefit for Behavioral Health Services.
Your costs will be based on the BCBSNM plan you have chosen, please refer to your Benefit Summary for details.
You are required to request preauthorization from BCBSNM for all behavioral health services before an inpatient/partial hospitalization admission. Requesting preauthorization before all behavioral health services gives BCBSNM the chance to help you get the most from your health plan benefits. To ask for preauthorization for behavioral health services, call the number on the back of your member ID card (888) 898-0070.
