Proton-radiography experiments

Los Alamos researcher Peter Pazuchanics inspects a 3-ton steel vessel used to confine the explosions involved in many proton-radiography experiments. The large orange electromagnets flanking the confinement vessel focus the protons to produce sharp radiographs. The protons travel within the stainless-steel vacuum tubing that passes through the centers of the electromagnets and the confinement vessel.
