Organization

The organization of the LANL Postdoctoral Association is not yet defined. As more of us begin meeting, we will determine what system will work the best for the Postdocs at LANL.

The initial structure of LAPA will be as follows until the Policy Committee presents an organizational structure in the form of documented bylaws to the General Assembly upon which an approval vote will be cast. Therefore, this structure is subject to change upon agreement of the General Assembly.

All postdocs will be members of the General Assembly and all members in good standing will be voting members of the General Assembly. Voting members will be required to serve on at least one committee.

We will be structuring LAPA with Committees and officers as the development of this organization evolves. Committees will work on projects specific to their charter. Committee members will choose a Chairperson and Assistant Chairperson. Executive Officers of LAPA will be elected by the voting members of the General Assembly to run the Association, preside over meetings and represent LAPA externally.

As LAPA matures, we hope committees and officers will bring an institutional memory and a sense of continuity to LAPA.
