Committees of the Los Alamos Postdoc AssociationThe Los Alamos Postdoc Association (LAPA) has a number of committees
in order to accomplish specific goals that address the needs of LANL's
postdocs. As a goal is achieved a committee may be phased out and as
new needs are recognized then new committees will be created to meet
those needs. Career CommitteeThe Career Committee is tasked with finding and making information available to LANL postdocs concerning external career opportunities. This will include bringing companies to LANL to interview postdocs as well as organizing career fairs. Communication CommitteeThe Communication Committee is responsible for the upkeep of the LAPA's web pages as well as publicity for LAPA. Conversion CommitteeConversion from a postdoc position to a TSM can be an experience steeped in mystery. This committee will gather information concerning the process and share it with the Lab's postdocs through a variety of venues. Executive CommitteeThis committee consists of the leadership of LAPA: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer as well as the Chairs of the standing committees. Finance CommitteeConsisting of the Committee Chairpersons, or their representatives, as well as interested General Members, in order to form a budget for the Los Alamos Postdoc Association. In addition the Finance Committee will be responsible for auditing the financial records of the Association Treasurer. Policy CommitteeThe Policy Committee is responsible for drafting bylaws for the organization of LAPA. In addition, the Policy Committee will ensure at least once a year, that the bylaws are relevant and up to date. If there is a question as to the interpretation of the bylaws, the question will be referred to the Policy Committee. Social CommitteeIn order to invigorate the LANL scientific community, the Social Committee plans and provides events for postdocs to get together in informal settings. |
