Scientific visualization hardware and software tools enable researchers to better understand large data sets. Complimenting resources in the SCC, the Scientific Visualization Collaboration Laboratory uses these tools in an open environment to apply the “visualization corridor concept”, which includes:

  • managed clusters
  • KVM extensions over fiber optics cabling
  • user office support
  • presentation facilities

The Collaboration Laboratory houses a 16.8 megapixel matrix display system consisting of 16 display panels. It offers video teleconferencing, ready-made informative movies, general slide presentations via laptop, and sci-viz collaboration through a cluster. The main purpose of the Collab Room will be a scientific collaboration and educational resource for visualizing data using tools such as Ensight, Paraview, and VisIt.

To reserve the Viz Collab, send email to nsecbriefings@lanl.gov with your request.
