Protections: Sampling
Protection #3: Sampling for known and unexpected contaminants
The Environmental Sampling Board, a key piece of the Strategy, ensures that LANL collects relevant and appropriate data to answer questions about the protection of human and environmental health, and to satisfy regulatory requirements.
LANL must demonstrate the data are technically justified and of sufficient quality to characterize potential effects from LANL operations. Data collction procedures and results are tranparent and readily available to the regulators and the public. An integrated stragegy ensures a holistic, adaptable, and cost-effective environmental sampling program.
