Mikhail Shashkov Honored with LANL Fellow Appointment

A world-recognized leader in and developer of modern Arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) methods, Dr. Mikhail Shashkov, has been honored with appointment as a Laboratory Fellow making him a distinguished member of the scientific staff at LANL. The ALE methods for high speed, multi-material flows are the heart of the ASC Program for NNSA and LANL weapons calculations. Shashkov's research and methods are used extensively at top research institutions around the world. Dr. Shashkov began his career in the US when he joined the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos. Most recently he has been in the Computational Physics (XCP) Division since the division formed in 2010 where he has been playing a key role in facilitating advances in the Lagrangian code base. According to XCP Division Leader Mark Chadwick, "Misha has an extraordinary career in numerical methods and hydrodynamics."
