Carbohydrate ligands for capture of Influenza virus onto beads
Abstract
We have developed magnetic beads that carry stabilized carbohydrate ligands that capture influenza. These beads can be dried, reconstituted, are shelf stable and inexpensive. These beads are not only superior in handling over antibody based capture beads, but have been shown to capture influenza virus from cultured samples 8 fold better than the current state of the art antibody. The beads further have low non specific binding avoiding carry over of protease or RNAase activity into assays. The magnetic capturing beads will provide valuable purification and handling of influenza for sequencing, dipstick, protein identification, hemaglutinin precipitation and diagnostic applications that rely on the purity and up - concentration of the influenza virus for detection and identification.
Application(s)
These beads provide influenza capture for sequencing, PCR, dipstick enzyme and genome assays, mass spectrometry, capture on flow cytometry beads, blood substitute for hemaglutinin immunoprecipitations, sample handling and shipping (to name a few).
The commercial applications of these beads have found wide spread interest among our customers as replacement for antibody capture.
Advantages
The carbohydrate beads provide unique advantages over current antibody based capture and solve the matrix problems of downstream analyses.
These beads are (in comparison to antibody capture beads):
more robust
can be lyophilized (don't need water)
are shelf stable without refrigeration
are less expensive
better reproducible
give better binding to influenza
and
do not provide protein interference
