Guidelines for speakers and discussion
The following questions have been suggested by the NSAC for the Long
Range Plan Process. Please keep these in mind when preparing any
material for presentation.
- What scientific question(s) is this sub-field trying to
answer?
- What is the significance of this sub-field for nuclear physics
and for science in general?
- What are the achievements of this sub-field since the last Long
Range Plan?
- What are the theoretical and experimental challenges being
addressed by this sub-field (a) in the immediate future (< 3
years) and (b) over the duration of the next Long Range Plan (10
years)? Identify the new opportunities which will contribute to
this scientific endeavor.
- What resources, including manpower, will be needed throughout
the duration of the next Long Rang Plan (with some attempt at
priorities)?
- How does the U.S. effort in this sub-field compare to the rest
of the world and how do U.S. studies fit into the global
picture?
- What will the impact of the proposed progam be on the other
fields and on society?
